“G” Glossary
G-d, God, GOD – (אלהים), (אל) – el, elohim as well as YHVH (יהוה) are explained under their respective entries in this Glossary. These titles—(el and elohim) and the personal name of God (YHVH) are replaced in most Bibles by G-d, God, or GOD, as well as LORD for YHVH. The Hebrew Bible uses HaShem in place of YHVH in its translation. This is to avoid reading YHVH's name out of respect to Him and not to take His name in vain. They leave “o” out of G–d for the same reason. When YHVH revealed His personal formal name to Moses, He commanded that His name—YHVH not be taken in vain. “Thou shalt not take the name of YHVH thy Elohim in vain; for YHVH will not hold him guiltless that taketh His name in vain.” (Exodus 20:7) God can also apply to other deities throughout the world that are not remotely connected with the Elohim of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The common use of God for any deity may give rise to the misunderstanding “we all worship the same god” in different forms. These varieties in translation show the importance of studying the Hebrew language and becoming familiar with the actual Hebrew words found in the Tanakh.
Go'el (גואל) is Hebrew for redeemer or kinsman redeemer.
Goy, Goyim (גוים) ,(גוי) means Gentile, Gentiles. In the Hebrew Bible the translation is “nations” – all nations besides Israel.
Great Tribulation (צרה גדולה) – tsahrah gedohlah – is known as the “The Day of the LORD” or “The Time of Jacob's Trouble” is a future time of a 7–year span when YHVH finalizes His judgment of the unbelieving world.

“Behold, the days are coming, says YHWH,
when I will make a new covenant
with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah—
... I will put My law in their minds,
and write it on their hearts;
and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.”
