When I was in the eighth grade I accepted Yeshua (Jesus) as my substitute sacrifice and Savior. In 1962 I married my high school sweetheart, Esther. We had two sons who are now grown and have families of their own. After I graduated from Pasadena Nazarene College in 1965 I taught upper elementary school for almost five years in California and Michigan. Later, while living in Grants Pass, Oregon, I attended a Pentecostal church where I was baptized in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in other tongues.
In the early '70's, after graduating from farriers' school in Grants Pass, I started my own horse logging business in Oregon. The next 35 years I spent logging, primarily with draft horses. Since retiring from logging, I drive a semi-truck part time for my youngest son who manages the local garbage business. I spend my leisure hours riding horseback on the trails around my farm where I keep my riding horses.
All during this time I have been active in church ministry at various times as a Sunday School teacher, youth leader, church board member, and lay minister teaching and preaching. I was ordained as a pastor in 2005.
Back in the mid '90's my wife and I started meeting with some friends in their home to study the Hebrew roots of Christianity. We picked Friday evening as a way of making our first move toward setting aside the seventh day Sabbath, from sundown to sundown. As we studied, one of the things we realized was that Jeremiah 31:31-33 said that the New Covenant was the same as the Old Covenant, with the exception of God writing the content on the believers' hearts, instead of just the believers writing it there.
In coming to this realization, our study group formally organized our own congregation, calling it the “House of Yeshua.” Our desire is to obey God in every way and to see that we apply the Covenant to our lives today.
We have now moved from not only studying the Hebrew roots of Christianity, but also we are endeavoring to put into practice what we are learning. By our definition we have become a Messianic Congregation. I believe that in obeying the commandments of God, that obedience is the key to sanctification. (God sanctifies those that He has already justified upon acceptance of Yeshua as Savior.)
Our congregation meets on the seventh day, Sabbath—sundown Friday to sundown Saturday. As one of the founding charter members of the congregation, I was among the first to be elected to the position of elder in April 2005. As an elder I serve with the other elders in teaching, preaching, and administrative duties. This fulfills a lifelong desire to learn and to serve my Savior, Yeshua.

“Behold, the days are coming, says YHWH,
when I will make a new covenant
with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah
. . . I will put My law in their minds,
and write it on their hearts;
and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.”
Jeremiah 31:31,33b
